Description

The Vought Corsair was one of the most unusual but also the most successful naval aircraft of the Second World War. Feared by Japanese opponents, who gave her the nickname Whispering Death, she fought her way through the Pacific sky from 1943 to 1945 and achieved record results: 2,140 enemy aircraft were destroyed with 189 losses of her own. The Corsair's concentrated firepower consisted of six 12.7mm Browning machine guns. His characteristic curved wings gave him a high level of recognition among the ground forces they called Sweetheart of Okinawa. The F4U-1A was the first batch with major changes and had a top speed of 671 km / h.

Decals for 2 US Navy versions are included:

  • Vought F4U-1A Corsair, VF-17 Squadron, U.S. Navy, Ondonga, Solomon Islands, November 1943
  • Vought F4U-1A Corsair, VF-17 Squadron, U.S. Navy, Bougainville, Solomon Islands, February 1944
